So I'd like public opinion as the (new) Mayor.

As one of my first major acts as mayor, besides keeping up Old Man Domino's "Mayor's Daily Quiz" (since much of the power is held by Kaiba Corp typically) (and I'm not convinced that guy wasn't a ghost or an entity representing the concept of Domino as a whole), I'm planning on defunding the police.

Services will be split between a "Public Aid" Unit of like healthcare and social workers, along with help from SAI for the usual things they cover, and...

SOL's Cyber Security Specialists, Leo Corp's Top Team, Kaiba Corp's Special Ops and OOPARTS, with consolatory help from B.E.A.S.T. as a result of turnover with them, from a permanently staffed officer.

It might not be 100% defunding but.

I went into a meeting and asked them what they planned to do about the tripling to quintupling of Duel Spirit acitivity in the city since Halloween... and I got promptly told that's just Swamp Gas, Weather Balloons and the Sun creating mirages.

I then unfolded my wings and let my eyes go red, and I think I gave the police representative a stroke.

And yes I'm aware of the issues of highly privatized police forces, but it's either a hodge podge of security forces that DO acknowledge and WILL deal with the problems or a police force that refuses as hard policy to acknowledge Duel Spirits exist.

And yes I am planning on building a city on top of the city in the long run.

It's more a patchwork of private security firms taking over for a police force that's already decided to be vestigial at best, but maybe that might be the name.

And duh, I'd expect you to communicate with Leo Corp... Kaiba Corp is more weird, I'm not sure if the same people work there week to week...

So it would be up to you guys to figure it out.

All I know is I've been here for a month or two and I keep getting the run around, and the first three titans above are getting pissy at the fact the cops are fucking useless.

And yeah, 'broken', more like beaten to death like a rag doll.

Meanwhile, due to the size of the frickin' cities involved, I have to work out the back of a train as my office and use a lemonade stand for public inquiries.

Well, maybe if the police hadn't cut my crew loose after our department building got BLOWN UP in order to absolve responsibility for us being constantly under-funded and being a mockery of the DMP, I'd be a little more sympathetic to them.

You really should just invest in your own sleeper cab, you know. If you're going to have to travel between the cities so much you should at least be able to do so in comfort.

As for communicating with the big players, if you get me a list of who I should be needing to contact for KaibaCorp's SpecOps, Top Teams, and the CST, I can probably do my rounds. Obviously we already have a pretty good working relationship with SAI and Officer Kaito.

Yes, which is why they're being replaced with the approval of Kaiba Corp and Leo Corp after that stunt last week.

Spec Ops has a single rep, they'll show up when relevant, and I'm told will not be speaking and will be wearing full body gear and a gas mask and will be standing in a corner ominously. Apparently they'll have a single conditioned that must be accepted or otherwise this whole thing unravels.

Tendou Hayate will be representing the Leo Corp Top Team, of what I'm told.

I'll see about the CST, but SOL's weirdly kinda private.

So most other negotiations I think will be you, Mr. Tendou and Mr. Tenjou.

It's okay, I kind of always knew I'd get dragged back eventually. If it wasn't for actual duties then Suguru would have probably stapled me to my desk because she doesn't want my job.

I am about 93% certain Katie would sooner sell me out herself than take on any responsibility of being fully in charge.

Don't get me wrong, she's fantastic in the role she's in, but I suspect she would not want to touch my responsibilities with a twenty foot pole.

Ironically, being indispensable means it's really hard to get someone else to take your job.
